Preliminary Examinations (GOP)

The preliminary examinations (Grundlagen- und Orientierungsprüfung GOP) are designed to show students that they are able to fullfill the requirements for their academic studies in their chosen subject, including the methodological skills needed for successfully finishing their degree. Looking at the general examination regulations (§ 30 ABMStPO/Phil) the GOP for sociology have to be acchieved following these regulations:

1-Subject BA full-time

• GOP needs to be completed at the end of the second (third at the latest) semester
• The GOP will be completed after finishing 40 ECTS worth of modules

2-Subject BA full-time

• GOP needs to be completed at the end of the second (third at the latest) semester
• The GOP will be completed after finishing 20 ECTS worth of modules

The modules that have to be completed are not determined by the examination regulations. The ECTS points will be credited to the GOP as soon as they are registered as “passed” in campo. There is not special examination for the GOP, after successfully passing a module, the corresponding ECTS points will be credited to the GOP-examination. After finishing enough modules worth 40/20 ECTS you will have passed your GOP.
