Heads up: Only relevant for students studying sociology as your first subject!
Your thesis is the last paper of your bachelors degree. It should consist of about 40 pages and is worth 10 ECTS-points.
To register your thesis you will have to have completed one of the specialised modules in sociology. The topic is chosen after communicating with your advisor and can be registered with the examinations office. This does not have to follow the typical examination registration. The student has the possibility to write their thesis during the lecture time or after it. But the thesis has to be completed after three months following the registration. If you want to finish your thesis at the end of the semester the last day of registration is the 31st of december during the winter semester and the 30th of june during the summer semester.
Registration is done with the advisor and the student. The corresponding application is added at the bottom of the page in german. The title of the thesis and the start of the registration has to be added.
After writing the thesis it has to be printed twice and once in an electronic format and handed into the examinations office during working hours. The declaration of of proper drafting is essential. Your advisor should take about six weeks to grade your thesis.
All professors and teaching personell with a doctorates should be eligible to be an advisor. In special circumstances please contact the study advisory.
