Part-Time Studies

Studying Part Time

The philosophical faculty and department of theology of the FAU offers part-time studies as part of most of their bachelors programs. This makes it possible to fully or partially study at reduced hours per semester. The contents of the degree stay the same but the degree will take longer and the hours that have to be completed per semester are at a reduced rate.

The part-time studies make it possible for students to react to changing circumstances in their life. They can swap between full- and part-time at the start of the winter semester. Working hours are reduced from 900 hours per semester to about half.

This offer is primarily designed for students with family or care-tasks, students with health related issues, money problems and similar issues. The part-time studies are not equal to evening classes. Altough it is possible for employed people to study part time if they are able to take part in courses about twuce a week. This offer is open for every person interested in studying or already studying at the faculty.

Studying part time increases the standart study period from 6 semesters to 12 semesters.

The module handbook for the two-subject course offers a recommended course of study for part-time. If you have any questions please contact the study-advisory of the institute or the Student-Service Center of the philosophical faculty and department of theology.
