Chair of Sociology (Technology – Labour – Society) at the Nuremberg Campus of Technology
The chair of sociology with the main focus on “Technology – Labour – Society” at FAU is researching and teaching the connections of digitalisation, labour and society. Part of our research is digitalisation of labour, industry 4.0 and the development as well as testing of new methods of research on change.
The effects digitalisation will have on labour, employment and qualifications is being decided on the level of the design of technology and labour. This has to be done on an interdisciplinary basis. As a result the research at our institute is based on interdisciplinarity and characterized by transdisciplinary dialogues with various actors of society. The Nuremberg Campus of Technology (NCT) offers a one of a kind institutional environment at FAU to research current change based on foundational science, in a practical and application oriented manner, as well as to prepare students and young researchers on digital tranformational processes of labour and society.
Our chair offers a labouratory that opens up the possibility to experience new technologies like humanoid robotics, augmented reality and learning systems. Thanks to this our employees are able to interactively research and are able to actively be a part of current changes of labour. Our students are offered the chance to test newer and innovative methods of social sciences. This synergy offers direct access to research and is opening up the teaching-repertoire to interactive components.
